Gretchen Scott ~ LMT, Aquatic Practitioner, Massage Therapist and Owner

Gretchen"The focus of my Aquatic Integration work is geared towards pain management and breaking the cycle of pain through passive movements and intentional touch." ~ Gretchen Scott.

Gretchen Scott graduated from the Downeast School of Massage in 2003 with high honors. And has been studying and practicing Aquatic Integration and Watsu since 2005. She is now the proud owner of and is one of the founding Practitioners at LilyPond Aquatic Therapies.

Gretchen studied Swedish and Sports massage and has developed specialty skills in Clinical Flexibility and Therapeutic Exercise, massage and relaxation. Her love of bodywork and water led her to the study of Aquatic Integration and Watsu® where she blends her therapeutic knowledge and achievement with these healing water modalities.

The intention of her touch focuses on reconnecting the mind body relationship in its healthiest form. She believes, "The human mind and our body’s muscles are engaged in constant sensory-motor feedback loops. With Aquatic Integration’s passive movements, lack of gravitational forces and the therapist’s manipulation to fascia and muscle tissue, clients can elicit change in muscle memory and re-pattern states of relaxation. Thus breaking the pain cycle between body and mind."

Mary Sheeline ~ MS Spec. Ed., LMT, Aquatic Practitioner & Massage TherapistMary
Mary Sheeline has dedicated her professional life to supporting her clients in deepening their perception of personal wholeness. Through guiding people to discover their wellness and core integrity, Mary gratefully practices her life's purpose on a daily basis. She has a gift for connecting quickly and warmly with all kinds of people.

Mary's practice of Watsu®, Aquatic Integration, and Waterdance is a natural progression of her innate knowing that all of life is interconnected within a beautiful matrix of energy. Mary's sessions are characterized by a secure, nurturing presence, experienced, quality touch and skilled knowledge of movement choreography for managing both herself and her client in the water.

Mary's professional bodywork practice began in 1981 while studying Amma Shiatsu with Master DoAnn Tsuneo Kuneko in NYC. This experience provided Mary with an invaluable foundation in bodywork mechanics and Eastern meridian theory. While living in CA, she gained credentials in both Swedish-Esalen massage and Foot Reflexology, as well as a Masters in Special Education. After working in a number of Napa Valley spas, a chiropractic office, and an adaptive PE program, Mary taught elementary special education for a decade in the Bay Area. Since 1998, Mary has built a thriving massage practice in Rockland, ME. Mary Sheeline's Massage Ensemble, Inc. offers clients an integrated, intuitive blend of massage sessions that include Reiki, CranioSacral Therapy, and Foot Reflexology. These modalities can also be integrated into an aquatic session.

Mary serves clients in her home office and at LilyPond Aquatic Therapies. In her words, "My treasured discovery in doing aquatic bodywork is that the water is our greatest teacher. Whether one seeks pain relief, increased spinal and joint mobility, or stress reduction, the waters at LilyPond Aquatic Therapies provide myriad opportunities for self-discovery. The water supports the client in freeing the body, its "survival layers", and its breath. Ultimately, whether in one session or in progressive sessions, the combination of the presence of the experienced practitioner and the water helps the client to recognize his or her innate wholeness."

Linda Shepard ~ Aquatic Therapist, Jin Shin Jyutsu Practitioner, & Yoga Instructorlinda
Linda has been teaching Yoga in the community since 1992 and has a Body Centered Therapy private practice at her home in Union. Her interest in body-mind awareness and energy medicine led her to obtain certification as a Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist in 1993. She continued her training with Arnold Mindell and Processwork, and is a certified Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner. She is interested in the levels of healing which are possible when respectful attention is brought to the whole person.

“Years of yoga practice and one-on-one work with people has taught me the importance of our ability to breathe with a relaxed body. There is a resilience and vitality imparted as a result of spinal flexibility. Our sense of well-being is deepened when we feel balanced and aligned in all aspects of ourselves.

Aquatic bodywork is therapeutically unique in that it allows me to interweave various healing systems. This gentle therapy helps unwind the tension from neuromuscular pain. The warm, gravity-free environment can soften long held patterns of emotional distress. The treatment influences the biofeedback loop by interrupting the habituated cycles of contraction. The bodymind receives new information as to what is possible. It is a process of reconnecting with our whole self.

Those who choose to experience this expansive work avail themselves of the potential for powerful transformation.”

Terry Miller ~ LMT, Aquatic CST, CYI, Energy & Massage TherapistTerry

Terry Miller brings over 30 years of medical and holistic health care experience to LilyPond Aquatic Therapies. She is a former medical nurse and is certified in craniosacral and trauma release therapy, the art and science of viniyoga (yoga therapy specializing in breath, meditation, and energy work) and spiritual mentoring.

Sessions focus on helping one resolve core issues of mind/body suffering, and restore the free flowing movement of life force energy.
When one can quiet the mind, ease the body and expand the breath, we can clearly see how the relationship between our thoughts and behaviors create mental and physical suffering... It is in this space where healing can begin and the skills applied can effect change.

In essence, I think of the work as helping one to untangle all of the stresses and strains on all levels of existence so that living can be loving and free.

Terry also conducts "QuietMind Retreat" intensives at her home in Hope and has a Holistic Health Pet Care practice working with animals in need.

Melissa Lamont ~ LMT, NCTMB, Certified Bellanina Facelift Massage Therapist - Massage TherapistMissy
Melissa is a graduate of Namaste Institute for Holistic Studies in ME, and has trained with Nancy Vincent of Bellanina Institute for Facial and Body rejuvenation in Chapel Hill, NC.

She is trained in the areas of relaxation/therapeutic massage, Reiki 1, neuromuscular techniques, and trigger point therapy. Melissa's technique addresses the contractions and knots in muscle tissue that become the cause of muscle soreness or weakness, restricted range of motion, and pain that can be referred to other parts of the body.

Facial wellness is a program which consists of: a gentle cleansing of cellular debris , manual lymphatic drainage, acupressure, moist heat therapy and massage which includes the face, upper body, hands and feet . Aromatherapeutic oils and natural bio-extracts feed and nourish the skin. The effects of removing tension lines from the face, allow the entire body to release tension, enhancing metabolic processes, and resulting in greater blood and oxygen flow.

Melissa has been the operator of her own business for the past 20 years and is a licensed riding instructor of both children and adults. As a teacher of horseback riding, she has gained interpersonal skills which aid others in the process of personal empowerment, and understanding one’s own personal body mechanics. Melissa fully realizes the power of the mind/body connection as a path to health and wellbeing. By being attentive and present, she addresses the body as a whole. She is grateful for the opportunity to nurture a successful experience for clientele by addressing body awareness, stress relief, and pain management.
