Massage Therapies

watsuFor thousands of years people have pursued the healing properties of therapeutic massage. Modern science tells us that 80 to 90 percent of all illness is related to stress. Why wait to get sick? The immediate and preventative benefits of massage are well chronicled and exceed mind-body relaxation.

During a massage specific physiological and psychological changes occur. Even better, when utilized as a frequent therapy for prevention, massage is well known for its ability to increase circulation of blood and lymph to improve the largest organ in your body, your skin. Also by stimulating the flow of lymph (the body’s natural defense system) in breast cancer patients, massage can increase the cells known to fight cancer.

Massage will lower your blood pressure, release endorphins (the body’s natural pain killer), aid recovery from surgery or bodily injury, decrease the need for migraine medication, increase joint flexibility, reduce fatigue, spasms and cramping, enhance your energy, decrease anxiety and help expectant mothers with easier labor and shorter hospital stays.

Relaxation, Therapeutic and Trigger Point Massage

Treating areas of muscle tenderness, our practitioners often combine massage with Trigger Point Therapy to aid clients who suffer from stiff joints or restricted motion due to injury, aging, overexertion, or poor posture. Trigger Point Massage is a bodywork technique that applies pressure to specific areas to relive pain and restore function.

Hot Stones

River stones, worn smooth by time and flowing water, are heated prior to placement on your meridians to create a deeply soothing and effective massage that combines elements of Swedish and Asian arts.

Thai Bodywork

Traditional Thai bodywork is a therapeutic technique that dates back for thousands of years. It is a fusion of various biomechanical disciplines in which compression and deep stretching are dominant.
The client remains fully dressed in comfortable, loose-fitting clothes and lies on a floor mat or table, passively, while the therapists uses hands, feet, forearms, elbows and knees to apply a combination of massage, and gentle yoga-like stretches in a rhythmic flow of movements. No oil is applied. A typical Thai session is 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours long.
Benefits of Thai Bodywork include:

  • Relaxes and greatly reduces stress
  • Improves circulation and stimulation of internal organs
  • Increases flow of energy
  • Increases flexibility and joint release
  • Improves ranges of motion in joints
  • Centers the mind and body
All ages can experience the benefits of Thai Bodywork.
